Cheese meatball and tomato bake
Every time my wife and I go over our good friend’s place for dinner, they always cook this meatball dish. I don’t mine so much because it tastes pretty good.
To make the meatballs, place the ground beef into a small stainless steel bowl. Dice the onion and add to the meat with ½ cup of grated cheddar cheese and the salt and pepper. Add the Parmesan cheese and eggs and mix well.
Make the tomato sauce by dicing the onion and the garlic and placing them in a small cooking pot with the olive oil. Place the pot on the stove and sweat the onion and garlic for about 3-4 minutes. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomato paste. Bring to the simmer and add the sugar and chopped basil.
Place the meatballs into a glass-baking dish and pour the tomato sauce over the top of the meatballs. Place the grated cheddar cheese over the top and place in the oven at 350F for 15-20 minutes. Take out and serve.
