Dark chocolate and walnut brownies
Coffee anyone. Try this brownie with a hot cup of tea or coffee in the morning or afternoon. Take some around to your friends when you pop in next. I know they will appreciate it. I would.
Chop the walnuts into small pieces and set aside. Cut the chocolate into chunks and place into a bowl with the butter and melt over simmering water. Be sure the heat flame does not reach the bowl when simmering over a pot or the chocolate will burn and ruin the flavor of the brownie set aside to cool. Whip the sugar, eggs and vanilla at high speed until light and fluffy. Fold into the cooled chocolate mixture. Sift the flour with the baking powder and stir in the chocolate mixture. Add 12 ounces of the walnuts. Line a greased baking tray with greaseproof paper and fold in the batter. Sprinkle the remaining 2 ounces of walnuts over the top of the batter. Bake at 400 oF for about 30 minutes or until the cake is completely soft. Cool and slice into desired pieces.
