Homemade Apple pie
I love to make apple pie, and after you make this apple pie recipe you will love it as well. This apple pie recipe is very easy to make and tastes so good.
Thinly slice the apples and place into a medium stainless steel bowl. Add the butter, cinnamon, sugar, orange zest and liquor and sultanas. Mix well and set aside.
Make the apple pie dough by combining the flour and the salt in a small bowl. Add the butter and lard and pinch into the flour. Add the cold water and mix until the dough comes together. The butter should be lumpy. Chill the dough before use.
Roll the dough out and place over a pie dish. Add the apple mix into the pie shell. Roll out some pastry and cut into strips. PLace over the top of the pie like lattice. Bake in an oven on 375F for 20 minutes. Cool down and serve warm.
6 large green apples
12 ounces butter
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 pound, 2 ounces sugar
½ cup orange liquor
¼ cup sultana’s
1 teaspoon orange zest
Pie dough
1 pound bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
12 ounces butter
3 ounces cold lard
½ cup iced water
